William E. Brown, 65, of Manchester died August 8, 2010 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester following a period of declining health. He was born on June 4, 1945 in Lowell, MA the son of the late Harry C. and Anna May (Desautels) Brown. He was raised in Lowell and attended Lowell Public Schools. Mr. Brown was active in baseball, CYO Boxing, Silver Mittens and was a Golden Gloves Champ in 1962. He was a coach and manager for the Lowell Babe Ruth League. William served on the Friends of Lowell High School and was the Football Committee Chairperson in the early 1980's. He relocated to Manchester in 1996 and became a volunteer for the Manchester Police Athletic League. William was an Officer at the Lafayette Club and an active member of the Ukrainian Club. Mr. Brown worked in the maintenance department for Wang Lab in Lowell. He had also worked at Merck Pharmaceutical and the Derryfield School. William was a dedicated and loving father, who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and learning about US History. He was married to Maryann Brown of Lowell and is survived by his son, Timothy J. Brown of Manchester, NH; daughter, Shelia Murray-Corbin of Glastonbury, CT; 4 grandchildren, Ethan Brown, Molly Brown, Erin Murray and Bryn Murray; 3 brothers, Thomas "Patcho" Brown of Hudson, NH, Bernard Brown of Melbourne, FL and Leo Brown of Melbourne, FL; 3 sisters, Nancy Brien of Dracut, MA, Marilyn Duffy of Pepperell, MA and Rosie Willard of Melbourne, FL; and many nieces and nephews. His Memorial Gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Saturday September 11th from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. His Memorial Service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at Noon.
