William Edward Arakelian

William Edward Arakelian, 92, of Durham, NH, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 9, 2022. Born in Boston, MA on March 2, 1930, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (McLellan) Arakelian. He shared 62 years of marriage with his wife, Maureen (Kerrigan) Arakelian.

William was raised in Boston, MA. He served in the United States Coast Guard as a young man. He had a long career as a police patrolman and armorer with the Reading, MA Police Department, retiring in 1995 after over 30 years of service. William loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. He loved American history and traveling.

William is survived by his wife, Maureen Arakelian of Durham; his daughter, Susan Robidoux and her husband Stephen of Hancock; his son, William Arakelian Jr. and his wife Catherine of Portsmouth; his grandchildren, Erin, Neil and Zoe; and great-grandchildren, Sam and Lily.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford, NH.
