William E. Butterworth, Sr., 78, of 1850 Front St., Manchester, died March 13, 2000 at his residence. He was born in Nova Scotia on October 24, 1921, the son of Walter and Ida (Dunn) Butterworth and had resided in the Manchester area for most of his life. He was a World War II Marine Corps Veteran. He had been employed by Coca Cola as a truck driver for over fifteen years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Sweeney Post, the VFW and the DAV. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (McCarthy) Butterworth who died in 1983, his second wife, Barbara (Jackson) Butterworth who died in 1996 and by a son, William Butterworth, Jr. Who died in 1969. Family members include two sons, Walter Butterworth of FL and Kevin Butterworth of Nashua; four daughters, Jean Beauregard of Merrimack, Mary Labrecque and Joanne Belanger, both of Nashua and Carol Pelletier of Brookline; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a sister, nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home Chapel at 8:00 PM on Thursday. After cremation, inurnment will take place in the columbarium at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
