Retired Major William D. Garamella, Sr., 87, of N. Redington Beach, Florida, died March 27, 2003, at the Arbors in Bedford, NH. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 14, 1915, the son of the late Joseph and Incaranata (Petricelli) Garamella and has been residing in Bedford for the past year. Major Garamella served 33 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended the University of Bridgeport, Ct., before entering in the Marines and also worked for the Bridgeport Post Office. After his retirement from the Marine Corps., he worked as a Broker for 20 years with the Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance. He was also the Commanding Officer of the 18th Rifle Company in Manchester. He and his wife Georgette once owned and operated "The Ragged Edge Apartments" at Ragged Mountain Resort in NH and "The Sea Horse Motel" in N. Redington Beach, Florida. He is the widower of Georgette (Demers) Garamella who died in 2001. He was an avid skier and loved sailing. Family members include his son, William D. Garamella, Jr. of Manchester, his daughter, Dr. Michael (Jane Garamella) Jukes of N. Redington, Florida, his grandson, Benjamin D. Garamella of Manchester, his brother, Dr. Joseph Garamella of Minneapolis, Minnesota, his sister, Laura Rosignol of Fairfield, Connecticut, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: Relatives and friends are invited to the calling hours at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Monday evening from 6 to 9. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock in St. Patrick Church. Entombment will follow in the family Mausoleum, Via Dolo Rosa, located in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
