William David Granfield went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 18, 2023, at the age of 70. Bill was born in Lowell, MA, and grew up in nearby Tewksbury. He was employed as a tool and die maker for several companies until his retirement. He was pre-deceased by his parents, William and Shirley (MacArthur) Granfield and his brother, Bruce. He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Stimpson) Granfield, his daughter Ann Marie Granfield and son, William Ronald Granfield and wife Amanda (Bickmore) Granfield, his brother, Douglas Granfield and wife Linda (Cole) Granfield, his sisters Brenda (Granfield) Griffin and husband Keith and Beth (Granfield) Dellagrote and husband Rob, his grandchildren Ashley Pellegrino, Alyssa Pellegrino, Lucas Granfield and Ariella Granfield as well as his great grandson, Jacob Mackley, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill moved to Bedford, NH in 2005 and served several years as a deacon at Bethany Covenant Church in Bedford until his health prevented him from continuing. He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed tinkering with his radios and contacting people all over the world. He was able to use his ham radio skills following the 9/11 attacks and was honored to go to New York City to help with the communication challenges they were facing. Bill also loved woodworking and demonstrated his artistry by making beautiful oak bureaus, desks, and bookcases.
He and his wife, Deb, enjoyed traveling and did an annual trip to the Dominican Republic for 18 years. Other favorite destinations were Alaska, Washington, DC, and Cape Cod.
There will be a memorial service for Bill on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Covenant Church, 1 Covenant Way, Bedford, NH 03110. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethany Covenant Church and will be given to ministries that were important to Bill.
