William A. “Bill” Jarres, 79, of Candia, NH, passed away at home on August 29, 2026. Born in Queens, NY on January 18, 1947, he was a son of the late Robert and Catherine (Keufner) Jarres. He recently celebrated 57 years of marriage with Caryl (Hallock) Jarres – they were married on August 16, 1969 in Greenport, NY.
Bill was a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY. He earned his BA from Manhattan College. Employment included work as a data analyst with AIG for 25 years. Then becoming Vice President of the New England Data Center for Reliance Insurance until 1998, at which time he established Continental Collection Service, specializing in commercial insurance collections.
Bill achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot, receiving his license on August 13, 1999. He enjoyed flying all over New England. He was a member of both the Queen City Aero Club and the Henniker Flight Club. He spent his youthful summers at the family beach house in Greenport, NY. It was always a treasured place. He met and married Caryl there and they continued to spend much time there until 2015. Bill and Caryl enjoyed traveling and cruising. They traveled to French Polynesia, the Netherlands, Paris, Samoa, Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand, among others.
Bill is survived by his wife, Caryl Jarres of Candia, NH; his three children, Mandie Michniewicz and her husband Tony of Pembroke, NH, Russell Jarres and his wife Kacey of Salem, NH, and Eric Jarres of Derry, NH; his grandchildren, Cray, Tess, Nora and Holden Michniewicz and Bodhi and Phoebe Jarres; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Velie and his brother-in-law, Gregory Hallock.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM-12:30PM with a Funeral Service led by his family at 12:30PM. A reception will follow. Private burial will be held at a later date at Holbrook Cemetery in Candia.
