William "Bill" G. Looney, 87, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018 in the comfort of his home, with his family by his side.
Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late William L. and Kathryn (Woolner) Looney. Raised and educated in Manchester, Bill worked for AIG Insurance following high school.
An honorably discharged veteran, Bill proudly served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Bill returned to AIG Insurance, where he worked for the next 35 years. Prior to retirement, Bill was a real estate broker for Century 21 for about 10 years.
A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bill was the pillar of strength for his family. Bill cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was proud of each of his family members. Bill enjoyed a great number of interests and was not shy to express his opinions. He was always willing to listen to his friends and family and share his positive and hopeful outlook on life with those around him. An avid outdoorsman, Bill found great peace and solace at lakes and the ocean. Bill will be best remembered for his sense of humor and love of family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Looney, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage; three sons, Mark Looney of Boscawen, Scott Looney and wife Michele of Weare, and Glenn Looney and companion Donna Chalifour of Goffstown; step-daughter, Kathleen Burick and husband Brian of SC; two step-sons, John Payne of SC, and Mark Payne and wife Deanna of CA; 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his son, Patrick Looney, and grandson, Billy.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Memorial Gathering will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium on Thursday, March 1 from 4:00 to 5:00PP.M. followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00P.M. Bill will be laid to rest in the springtime in a private, family service. Friends and relatives invited.
