William J. ''Bill'' McCarthy, 87, formerly of Glen Falls, Goffstown, NH died August 1, 2002, at Catholic Medical Center. He was born in Boston, Ma., on November 29, 1914, the son of the late William and Mary McCarthy and had been a resident of the Massachusetts area for most of his life. He moved to New Hampshire in 1977 and most recently resided at the Bedford Carlyle Place. He is the widower of Lillian (Greene) McCarthy who died in 2001. Bill worked many years for H.K. Porter Company. He was active in community affairs and enjoyed writing articles for the Goffstown News. He conducted rosary services at the Carlyle Place. His wit and sense of humor will be missed by many. Family members include three sons, Joseph L. McCarthy, Paul E. McCarthy, both of So. Boston, Ma., and Peter G. McCarthy of Andover, Ma., his two predeceased sons, Kevin McCarthy and William J. McCarthy, III, six grandchildren, Paul McCarthy, Jr., David McCarthy, Patty McCarthy, Brian McCarthy, Joseph McCarthy, Jr., and Maureen McCarthy, eleven great grandchildren, his sister, Dorothy Grady of Dedham, Ma., several nephews, nieces and cousins. SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Services will be Monday morning at 10 o'clock in the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Goffstown, NH.
