William R. Simoneau

December 28, 1947 — September 29, 2023

Deerfield, NH

William “Bill” R. Simoneau, 75, of Deerfield, NH, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his beloved wife, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Boston, MA, he is the eldest son of the late Edgar and Rachel (Maynard) Simoneau. Bill was raised and educated in Nashua, NH, where his family owned and operated Leda Lanes. Raised in a Catholic family, Bill volunteered as an altar server in his youth. Bill graduated from Nashua High School before matriculating to Southern New Hampshire University, majoring in accounting.

An honorably discharged veteran, Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1965 to 1968, serving in the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Bill met his lovely wife while working at Sanders Associates. The young couple married in 1971, settling in Deerfield, NH on a wooded homestead to raise the beautiful family. Later, Bill worked as a criminal investigator for the United States Treasury until his retirement.

As a proud Eagle Scout, Bill relished time spent in nature. He was an avid duck and deer hunter, sharing his passion with his son and granddaughter. If he wasn’t roaming the woods, one could find Bill relaxing, watching TV or his favorite team, the New England Patriots. Bill enjoyed playing card games with friends and family, especially playing cribbage with his late brother, Danny. Bill will be best remembered for his collection of Budweiser steins and his dedication to his country and family.

Bill is survived by his dedicated wife, Bobbie Simoneau, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage; son, Anthony Simoneau of California; his daughter, Lynn Jones and husband Josh of Pembroke; granddaughter, Shadelle Whitney; grandson, Jonathan Whitney; nine siblings, Connie Breen and husband Barry, Jeanne Hulse and husband Alan, Louise Remillard and husband Gary, David Simoneau and wife Maria, Marie Goranson and husband David, Leon Simoneau and wife Sherry, Donald Simoneau and wife Lorene, Diane Simoneau and partner Keith, and Nancy Boucher and husband Chris; sister-in-law, Chris Simoneau; countless nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Danny Simoneau and infant brother, Mark Simoneau.
