William Joseph "Bill" Waites

William Joseph “Bill” Waites, 60, of Manchester, NH passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on May 9, 2024. Born in Lawrence, MA on April 2, 1964, he was a son of the late Paul and Helen (Scott) Waites.

Bill followed in his dad’s footsteps and had a long career of over 30 years in HVAC. He was a fan of New England sports and loved watching games on TV and in person and collecting sports memorabilia. He enjoyed traveling to see Major League Baseball stadiums and visited 13 of them over the years. He cherished the small joys in life such as going to see movies and going to yard sales and secondhand stores with his lifelong best friend, Sue, and watching TV with his kitty, Polly. He loved spending time with his daughter, Stephanie, and his grandson, Julian.

Bill would do anything for his family, from dog sitting Mosby, his daughter’s dog, fixing the boiler in the home he grew up in for his sister, Bev, to pushing himself to walk miles up and down the Hampton Beach strip just because he was invited by his daughter and grandson to walk, to going and seeing the same movie for three years straight for his grandson’s birthday, just because it became a tradition. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and companion who will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Waites and her fiancé Keith Murray; his grandson, Julian Murray; his best friend, Susan Pynenburg, and their cat, Polly; his sister, Bev Johannes and her husband Paul; his brother, Paul Waites and his wife Marie; his brother, Derek Waites; his sister-in-law, Linda Waites; his ex-wife, Dawn Waites; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Helen Waites, and his brother, Ronnie Waites.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at a later date.
