William C. West, 87, of Nashua, passed away on April 6, 2023, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
He was born in Brockton, MA on November 4, 1935, the son of the late William and Edith (Johnson) West. William was a twenty-year US Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served on nuclear submarines in the “silent service.” During his distinguished military career, he was a highly awarded and decorated veteran. After the military, he worked as a field engineer in the electronics industry and eventually opened his own electronics business specializing in the newspaper and magazine industries. He was an avid reader and loved birdwatching. He also loved his pet dog Lokie who recently predeceased him. He was the widower of Barbara (Murray) West who passed in 2010.
Family members include his son, Jeffrey West and fiancé Joanna Skalski of Nashua; two daughters, Cynthia Hill and her husband Wayne of North Port, FL, and Catherine West and her husband Alan Kempton of Davenport, FL; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara McSpadden and Marjorie West, both of TX; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A graveside service with military honors will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at noon in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
