WILMA PEARL BARKER
NORTH HAVERHILL, NH Wilma P. Barker, age 90, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at the Grafton County Nursing Home.
Wilma was born on March 1, 1917 in Pike, NH, a daughter to William and Pearl (Forbes) Bullard. In 1980 on St. Patricks Day, March 17, she was wed to Howard (Pete) Barker of Thetford, VT.
When Wilma lived in Littleton, her name was Wilma Rivers. She cared for many children of families living in the Littleton area. She was also employed by the Littleton Regional Hospital and several restaurants as a cook; her specialty was delicious pastries. Beyond her cooking and canning skills, Wilma had a knack for adding the ingredients of happiness, love and humor to all she accomplished for others. She took joy in using her talents to encourage and to help growing children. She was especially loved for her comforting hugs, her sewing of beautiful ballet costumes, intricately smocking dresses for a little girl and sewing a fathers large flannel shirts. Wilma enjoyed collecting teddy bears, knitting warm sweaters, hats and mittens, sewing doll clothes and making crafts. She will always be dearly loved for the happy memories of decorated doll carriages and bicycles in Littletons parades.
Wilma cherished an enduring dedication to the Earl, Sr. and Harriet Tilton family in Littleton, having cared for their extended families and the Tilton children when they were young. Over the last several years, Harriet T. Eoute and the Tilton family have been attentive in friendship and care giving to Wilma.
Wilma was raised in Canada, and she had pleasure visiting her family whenever possible. The memories of her childhood home and family brought Wilma great comfort. Wilma leaves to mourn a brother, Kingsley and wife, Joyce Bullard; a sister Jessie; a nephew, Nelson, dear Buddy and wife, Charlotte Bullard, and several other nieces and nephews of Canada. Her second family, Harriet T. Eoute, Nancy T. Spencer, Earl R. Tilton, Jr., of Littleton, Robert Tilton of New York, and Larry Tilton of Massachusetts are so very grateful that Wilmas life touched theirs through childhood and into adulthood. Surviving loved-ones not named include friends and relations in Canada and New England.
Wilma was predeceased by her husband Pete Barker in 1994, by her brothers, Harvey, Andrew, Bob and by her sisters, Margaret, Christine, Betty, Merrilla and Dorothy.
SERVICES A graveside service was held on Thursday, July 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Post Mills Cemetery in Thetford, VT with Rev. Roger Daum officiating.
