Winifred M. Brooks of Hinsdale, NH died on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016 at Vernon Green Nursing Home, Vernon VT. She was born in Hinsdale, NH on March 21, 1933, daughter of Kenneth and Anna (Paduchak) Brooks.

She was an alumnus of Hinsdale High school, graduating in 1951. After high school she worked for Vermont Savings Bank in Brattleboro, later working for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until 1966, at which time she moved to Massachusetts. She returned to Hinsdale in 1971 to work at the law firm of Kristensen, Cummings and Price until 1978 where she left and started working at Cheshire County Savings Bank, retiring in 1998.

She leaves a son, David Michael Brooks and his wife Hope; two grandchildren, Tyler J. Brooks and Abigale K. Brooks; a brother, Bernard K. Brooks, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by a sister, Loretta Brooks Kelly and brother in law Maurice J. Kelly.

Winnie adored her two grandchildren; Tyler and Abby, who were her life during retirement. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making Christmas stockings for each new baby and throughout her life she was an avid Red Sox fan.

She was a charter member and past president of the Brattleboro Eagles Auxiliary #2445 and held many other positions in the auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hinsdale, NH. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hinsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VT Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association, University of Vermont Medical Center, Department of Neurology, 1 South Prospect St., Burlington, VT 05401.
